Architecture and environment
An impressive, stone-built, Scottish Victorian house, dated 1883, Carlton occupies an ideal location at Seamill, on the Ayrshire coast. It enjoys a commanding view, over Seamill shore and beach, to the world-famous Firth of Clyde and the beautiful, mountainous Isle of Arran.

Guest-bedrooms
Carlton can accommodate a maximum of six adult B & B guests. Its three guest-bedrooms are all on the first floor, immediately beside the shared bathroom.
Principal Bedroom – standard double – west-facing, with a spectacular, uninterrupted view to Arran and the Clyde; this elegant Victorian bedroom is especially popular with honeymoon couples;
Drummond Bedroom – Scottish double – west-facing, with an uninterrupted view to Arran and the Clyde; this is an extremely comfortable, intimate and charming room with oriental and art-deco themes;
Ainslie Bedroom – twin-bedded – east-facing, looking inland to Seamill; also very comfortable, charming and well-appointed – though not benefiting from a sea-view.
Please note that, in order to maintain the architectural integrity of Carlton’s fine Victorian rooms (of which we are justly proud), we have chosen not to install en-suite bathrooms

Eating out
Some of Scotland’s finest restaurants are only a short drive from Carlton. For example, “Fins” (Seafood Restaurant) at Fencebay, Fairlie; “Braidwoods”, near Dalry; “Highgrove”, near Troon. Information about these is readily found on the Internet.
The Seamill Hydro Hotel (bars and restaurants) and the Merrick Hotel (bar and restaurant) are only a few minutes’ walk away – along Ardrossan Road or, better still, just along the beach.

Direct beach access
Carlton’s west-facing garden-gate provides easy access to Seamill’s extensive, sandy beach – only a stone’s-throw away. Our guests typically enjoy walking along the beach on a lovely evening, watching the wheeling flocks of seabirds and the gregarious colonies of seals. If our guests are very fortunate, they may witness one of the fabulous, breathtaking sunsets for which the Firth of Clyde is renowned. At the least, lungfuls of healthy sea-air are guaranteed
